The Babbit Floor Lamp is an expression of pure geometry made of metal in a brushed brass finish and brass in a polished brass finish. One of the distinctive elements is the tailored tapering of the shaft, which was inspired by Brancusi sculpture and expresses the way the structural forces support the weight of the shade. By rethinking the smallest, often ignored, details, the designer Barry Goralnick takes the design to another level, as is the case with the on/off pulls that were inspired by pendant earrings.
